Program on American Politics

The Program on American Politics focuses in on the political institutions, events, and issues of the United States.

This includes but is not limited to, Congress, individual state politics, the presidency, elections, and US policy, both domestically and abroad.

The Program brings speakers on these topics to the IOP and students write about US politics in PAX. The Program upholds its impartiality to ensure that all viewpoints and ideas are freely discussed.

Jamie Raskin – Talking San Diego

ASPS had an amazing time with Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland’s 8th district. Congressman Raskin spoke on Gun Violence in America and the varying legal interpretations of the 2nd Amendment. We thank Congressman Raskin for an extremely educational experience, as well as Talking San Diego for moderating and hosting.

Nancy Pelosi – TalkingFeds

Members of ASPS had the privilege of seeing Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi in San Diego. She spoke of her newest book, “The Art of Power” and her rise to public office. Congresswoman Pelosi also talked about the Affordable Care Act, reconciliation, and the work that was done to get it passed. We thank Harry Litman from TalkingFeds for moderating, and of course Congresswoman Pelosi for coming down to San Diego!
